THANK YOU EVERYONE!

For those who don't regularly read the King County elections page http://www.metrokc.gov/elections/200708/resPage8.htm  (what?! why not?!) here is the most recent tally a week later -

So far I have received a total of 9501 votes, or 13.35 % of the total vote.  Not enough to go through to the general election, but overall a decent showing.

As I looked around at the people at the Victory party, I was touched at how many different people were there that may not have been in a room together otherwise, and how much support was given to me by people I hardly know - it is that community effort that is the greatest gift from doing this, and you all have all perpetuated my optimistic notion that anyone can make a positive difference in the world, if they choose.  That alone made my summer worthwhile; and for that, I thank you.

Tuesday's election will narrow the field to two, and Godden is a likely shoo-in. The greater intrigue is which among the other three will survive to take her on in the general election?

Not all council candidates would rubber stamp the mayor
On July 20 the Seattle P-I Editorial Board issued its City Council endorsements and opined that 'incumbents Jean Godden and Sally Clark are the clear choices against lackluster fields of challengers.' As a candidate for Position 1, I was never invited to meet with the P-I Editorial Board, nor was I interviewed by phone or even had a questionnaire proffered.
